The 'General Hospital' star Steve Burton finalized his divorce from his pregnant ex-wife Sheree Gustin, as the judge finally signed their settlement on Wednesday.
Burton filed for divorce in July 2022, ending their 23 years of marriage.
Burton Finalizes Divorce From Gustin
According to TMZ, Burton revealed that they had broken up in May 2022 when he claimed Gustin was expecting a kid and found out that he was not the father.
He wrote on his Instagram about his split with Gustin. He said, "She recently announced that she's expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine."
Gustin gave birth to her daughter, Izabella, in February. She revealed her pregnancy in October last year, with the father's identity remaining a secret.
She posted on Instagram that she was unexpectedly expecting her fifth baby. She wrote, "If you would have told me I was going to have 5 kids with 2 of them being born in my 40s I would have laughed and said you were crazy but God has a plan, and here I am and I couldn't be happier or more grateful for my life and the people in it."
Burton noted that they were still co-parenting their three beautiful kids and would appreciate privacy now. The two agreed to joint legal and physical custody of their two minor children, Jack and Brooklyn.
He has been providing Gustin with $12,500 a month for child support. He was also paying $10,000 for Brooklyn, and $2,500 for Jack.
When Jack reaches 18 at the end of March, Burton will no longer be obligated to pay for child support. However, he ensured that he would keep paying Brooklyn $10K until she turned 18.
The ex-couple has consented to give up any and all claims to spousal support. However, he said he would give her $50,000 in installments of $2,500 each month.
Burton Leaves 'General Hospital'
Burton portrayed Jason Morgan on 'General Hospital' from 1991 until his character was killed in 2012, then returned in 2017.
However, he was fired from the ABC soap opera in November 2021 after refusing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
He explained in a video that he knows there have been many rumors and speculations about him and his show, 'General Hospital.' Unfortunately, he has confirmed that the show has let him go because of the vaccine mandate.
Burton continued to defend himself and said that the production rejected his requests for exemptions from the rule on the grounds of religion and health. He thanked the audience and mentioned that he almost grew up on the program.
He added that one day, if these mandates are lifted, he can return and finish his career as Jason Morgan, which would be an honor to him.
