Taylor Swift struck a death stare at the 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday in Beverly Hilton over the comedian and host Jo Koy's NFL joke as her boyfriend, Kansas City Chief Travis Kelce, missed her event.
Swift's concert film 'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour' was nominated in the category of Cinematic and Box-Office Achievement.
Taylor Swift Reacts to Jo Koy's NFL Joke
Swift stunned the crowd with her shimmering Gucci green sequin gown and posed for photos on the red carpet before sitting inside the International Ballroom of The Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Koy, who already seemed nervous in his stint as host, attempted to lighten the mood by referring to Swift's attendance in NFL games to support Kelce.
"The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift... there's just more to go to here," he joked.
Swift had a cold look on her face as the camera panned in closer and was seen pursing her lips before taking a sip from her drink.
Taylor Swift's reaction did not go unnoticed by viewers, and talked about the awkward moment on social media. One fan joked about Koy's rough debut at the Golden Globes and said that Swift was unamused by Jo Koy, and the singer was just like them.
"If Taylor Swift death stares could actually kill, Jo Koy would now be deceased," TV host Piers Morgan wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
One viewer also posted about Taylor Swift's death stare, which perfectly embodies Jo Koy's cringe-hosting job. A fan commented, alluding to the iconic Will Smith Oscars slap of 2022, that the one funny thing Jo Koy has done so far was mention Taylor Swift by name.
Before his Swift joke, Koy made a couple of jabs at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. He told the crowd, who also laughed in response, that Harry and Meghan Markle got paid millions for doing absolutely nothing.
Ted Sarandos, the CEO of the streaming service, was the focus of the camera after he cracked the joke.
Kelce Misses Girlfriend's Event
At SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, just 13 miles from the Beverly Hilton, Kelce watched the Kansas City Chiefs play against the Los Angeles Chargers from the sidelines. The Globes were only a few hours away when the game began.
The couple was last spotted together celebrating the New Year in Kansas City, Missouri, as the NFL star and his team defeated the Cincinnati Bengals with Swift in attendance. The couple went out for a celebration and showed a sweet public display of affection.
They also spent Christmas Day together as Swift and her family attended Kelce's home game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Swift said in a recent interview at Time magazine, which named her its 2023 Person of the Year that she would keep seeing Kelce do what he loves, and they would not care even if people were there.
