Authorities have reported that a significant number of individuals have been injured as a result of an explosion that occurred on Monday. The incident took place in a hotel building located in downtown Fort Worth, Texas.
A spokesperson for the Fort Worth Fire Department, Craig Trojacek, reported that the initial report of a fire at Sandman Signature Fort Worth Downtown Hotel came in at approximately 3:32 p.m. local time. There were numerous reports of an explosion that were received afterwards.
Explosion at Historic Texas Hotel
Trojacek later stated that smell of gas filled the air in downtown Fort Worth. According to Sara Abel, a spokesperson for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, investigators have determined that the explosion was likely the result of a leak.
Per USA Today, images of the explosion revealed shattered windows and debris strewn across the street. Authorities advised individuals to steer clear of the vicinity. Situated in a bustling area of downtown, it is conveniently located just one block away from the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Texas Hotel Explosion Likely Caused by Gas Leak
Footage captured by news helicopters revealed the challenging scene as firefighters carefully navigated through the debris, broken glass, and twisted metal strewn across the street in front of the hotel. Authorities advised individuals to steer clear of the vicinity.
"In the area, a strong odor of gas is present and various items, including windows, have been blown outside of the structure," shared Craig Trojacek.According to Desiree Partain of MedStar, four additional individuals received medical attention at the scene but were not transported to a hospital.
As per the hotel website, the Sandman Signature Fort Worth Downtown Hotel boasts a total of 245 rooms and has a rich history dating back to 1920 when it was originally known as the "Waggoner Building," in honor of the renowned cattle rancher and oilman, William Thomas Waggoner.
The building has been recognized for its historical significance and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979.
