Donald Trump predicted a U.S. economic crash again. This is not the first time he made this kind of comment.
Before Election Day 2020, the former American leader warned the public that the U.S. economy could collapse if Joe Biden won the election.
This is one of the selling points used by Donald Trump when he ran for the presidency in 2020, arguing if he becomes the U.S. president, the stock market will "rule."
Although Trump didn't win the U.S. 2020 presidential election, he still expects a major economic crash to happen in the U.S. Here are other things that the former POTUS said regarding the American economy.
Donald Trump Predicts US Economic Crash
Donald Trump was interviewed by Lindell TV on Monday, Jan. 8. During the interview, Donald Trump explained that if a U.S. economic crash really happens, he is hoping it'll take place before he wins a second presidential term.
"When there's a crash, I hope it's going to be during this next 12 months because I don't want to be Herbert Hoover," said the former American president via CNN Politics.
"The one president - I just don't want to be Herbert Hoover," further stated Donald Trump.
To give you an idea about Donald Trump's statement, former U.S. President Herbert Hoover's first year wasn't a good one since the U.S. stock market crashed.
This signaled the beginning of the Great Depression. Trump's latest statements regarding the U.S. economy come as he tries to get the trust of voters that he can improve the American economic system.
White House Responds to Trump's Statements
Aside from criticizing U.S. President Joe Biden's economic policies, Donald Trump also claims that the current American economy is "so fragile," as reported by MSNBC.
"We have an economy that's so fragile, and the only reason it's running now is it's running off the fumes of what we did," explained the former U.S. president.
After hearing the interview with Donald Trump, the White House released a statement, saying that the ex-POTUS should not be hoping for an economic crash to happen.
"A commander in chief's duty is to always put the American people first; never to hope that hard-working families suffer economic pain for their own political benefit," explained Andrew Bates, the White House's spokesperson.
He added that Trump and other Republicans should welcome the economic progress that Joe Biden is delivering.
