A woman in her 70s has died while at least 12 people have been injured after two suspects - believed to be Palestinians—stabbed and rammed their way in the Israeli town of Ra'anana on Monday afternoon (January 15).
According to several local media reports, the attackers were identified by the Shin Bet as Mahmoud Zidad, 44, and Ahmed Zidat, 25, both of them residents of the southern West Bank town of Bani Naim, close to Hebron.
How the Attack Happened
The pair reportedly stabbed a driver before stealing the car and driving it into three people before getting stuck. They stole two more cars and rammed a few more people before they were apprehended by police.
Among the injured were several children aged 10 to 16.
The Shin Bet added that the two were in Israel illegally, and had been blacklisted for entering the country illegally numerous times in the past.
The attackers are currently being interrogated by the Shin Bet, The Times of Israel reported.

Hamas Claims Ramming Attack
According to the Jerusalem Post, Hamas claimed responsibility for the incident in Ra'anana after Israeli authorities called it a terror attack.
As a result, Ra'anana mayor Chaim Broyde ordered schools in the area to be placed on lockdown and urged parents not to take their children outside their homes. The attack happened near the end of the school day.
Police were continuing to search for possible additional threats.
