Man Wakes Up in Body Bag After Being Pronounced Dead

Not every day dead people just wake up, but when they do they are "alive and kicking."

That is what exactly happened in Mississippi when a funeral director and coroner were preparing to embalm the dead body of 78-year-old Walter Williams. Suddenly they noticed few movements in the body bag.

"We got him into the embalming room and we noticed his legs beginning to move, like kicking," Coroner Dexter Howard of Porter & Sons Funeral Home, Lexington, said, reports CNN. "He also began to do a little breathing."

Howard along with Byron Porter, the funeral director, called an ambulance. Paramedics rushed Williams to the Holmes County Hospital and Clinics.

Obviously the incident shocked the coroner, director and the paramedics. "They were in shock. I was in shock. I think everybody at the hospital was in shock," Howard said. Doctors declared Williams dead the previous day. Howard had also checked the man's pulse and pronounced him dead.

"I stood there and watched them put him in a body bag and zip it up," Williams' nephew, Eddie Hester, told local television station WAPT.

"He was not dead, long story short," funeral director Byron Porter told news channel.

According to Howard, Williams has a defibrillator that may have pumped up his heart again, reports Reuters. He said it was a miraculous moment and did not witness anything like this before.

The news came as a surprise for the Williams' family. "My cousin called me and said, 'Not yet,' and I said, 'What you mean not yet?' He said, 'Daddy still here,'" Hester said, reports the abc NEWS.

However, William does not recount a thing after waking up from the dead.

William's daughter Mary Williams said her father thought he was asleep. "He said he thought he was asleep."

His family was overjoyed with the news. "So it was not my daddy's time," daughter Martha Lewis told CNN affiliate WJTV. "I don't know how much longer he's going to grace us and bless us with his presence, but hallelujah, we thank Him right now!"

Williams was nicknamed 'snowball' as he was born during a rare Mississippi snowstorm, reports Reuters. Doctors said his condition was stable and was receiving treatment. Howard said although Williams seemed weak, he talked with his daughters.
