No. 4 Syracuse bounced back from two straight losses with a 57-55 win on Monday against Maryland. The Orange (26-2) almost gave up the lead against Maryland, making it a total of 14 points that have decided their last five games, according to the Associated Press.
"We're in a lot of these games," Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said, via the Associated Press. "For the most part we've made good plays at the end of them, and that's why we are where we are. We're not overpowering too many people, I can promise you that."
Virginia (24-5), meanwhile, has strung together 12 straight wins since their loss on Jan. 13 at Duke. The Cavaliers blew out both Notre Dame and Miami, and they now play their last regular-season home game against the Orange.
"As a player, you try to block out the distractions, block out the publicity the game is getting, because I really feel like it's not about that," Virginia guard Malcolm Brogdon said of the sold-out game. "At the end of the day it's just another basketball game. We've got to go in and play our game ... and impose our will from the beginning."
