Former U.S. President Donald Trump explained why presidential immunity is crucial for future American leaders. He shared his arguments on Thursday, Jan. 18, on Truth Social.

The comments of Trump come as an appeals court prepares to rule if he had presidential immunity from his criminal charges. Previously, he asked a federal appeals court to cancel four federal felony charges against him, which related to the 2020 election overturning.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled against Trump's request, saying that his recent presidential position doesn't mean he has the "divine rights of kings."

Now, Donald Trump explained why American rulers should have presidential immunity and why they should be allowed to "cross the line."

According to Fox News' latest report, Donald Trump said that having presidential immunity is very crucial for people who will lead the United States.

"I'm not talking about myself. I'm talking about [how] any president has to have immunity," said the former POTUS.

"Because if you take immunity away from the president, it's so important, you will have you have a president that's not going to be able to do anything," he added.

In his defense, Donald Trump mentioned the case of his predecessor, Barack Obama. He said that bombardments of the former POTUS in Afghanistan killed children after hitting a kindergarten, a school, and an apartment house.

"A lot of people were killed. Well, if that's the case, he's going to end up being indicted when he leaves office," explained Trump.

If Obama didn't have presidential immunity, then things would be very different for his predecessor, as stated by Donald Trump. He also argued that current U.S. President Joe Biden also has presidential immunity.

Via his official Truth Social Post, Donald Trump said that he believes American leaders should have "full immunity" in order for them to properly function as presidents of the United States.

Donald Trump said that he believes U.S. presidents should be allowed to "cross the line," and this can only happen if there's a full presidential immunity.

Trump even provided an example to support his argument. He stated that police shouldn't be prevented from doing their implementing strong and effective crime prevention measures.

Donald Trump argued that people can't stop law enforcement authorities just because of the occasional "rogue cop" or "bad apple."

He added that all U.S. presidents should have complete and total presidential immunity. If they don't, their authority and decisiveness as American leaders would be stripped and gone forever.

"HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE AN EASY DECISION. GOD BLESS THE SUPREME COURT!" said Donald Trump.
