It was reported Monday by the Associated Press that Poland's new minister Donald Tusk recently visited Ukraine as a show of support for the territory in its ongoing conflict with its neighbor Russia.
Tusk had announced a new military aid package that includes a loan that would allow Ukraine to purchase larger weapons alongside a plan that would allow the two territories to develop these new weapons together. Tusk went on record to say that his meeting with Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, was productive stating that the two had come to "an understanding". In addition, other allied countries have also re-emphasized their support as there have been concerns that support from the West could be at stake. However, both British Minister Rishi Sunak and France's new Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne visited Ukraine earlier this year. Tusk's visit follows a recent report from Ukraine officials stating that a recent shelling killed 27 individuals in the currently Russian-occupied Donetsk.
Tusk's Warning
Tusk has described the Russian-Ukraine conflict as a greater conflict rather than an isolated one describing it as Europe against Russia. "Today Ukraine is shouldering the security matters of the entire European continent, today Ukraine is paying the huge price of blood for the values that are fundamental to the free world. Poland's security is also at stake in this struggle".
Tusk isn't the only individual who's warned that this conflict could escalate. Last week NATO's senior military official warned that allied countries should be prepared for anything as the conflict continues. In addition, Russian President, Vladimir Putin had an ominous warning that Ukraine's statehood could be at risk. It remains unclear what it would take for the two territories to come to a mutual agreement however it seems that support from other territories will continue and Ukraine appears confident in its ability to be victorious as some towns have already started rebuilding their towns.
