Rick Ross, Diddy Album Release Party Ends In Police Shootout; One Injured

A DJ at a Rick Ross and Sean "Diddy" Combs album release party was injured in a shootout with Georgia police on early Monday morning, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The incident began around 4 a.m. after officers heard gunshots outside of the Velvet Room, which was hosting the release party, according to DeKalb Public Safety Director Cedric Alexander.

After one of the officers responded towards the back of the club, "one subject turned toward them, firing shots," prompting the officers to shoot the gunman in the leg, Alexander tod the AJC.

The officers were not injured in the shootout.

The wounded DJ, whose identity has not been released, reportedly went back inside of the club after he was shot, right before he was arrested and then transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.

"For whatever unknown reasons, it appears that this DJ who was involved in the shooting with some others turned and shot at the officers, and that's when they returned fire," Alexander said.

Alexander added that police were in full uniform and made sure to identify themselves when responding to the incident.

"They were doing what they were trained to do," Alexander said. "They took all the necessary actions to protect themselves and each other."

Following protocol, both officers were placed on administrative dutiy after the shooting.
