A man in his 30s died after he was shot by officers in Southwark, southeast of London early Tuesday morning Jan. 30.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the man was allegedly armed with multiple weapons, including a crossbow, and was threatening to harm residents inside one of the homes in the area, Sky News reported.
"Local officers attended and attempted to speak to the man but, after being threatened, armed officers were called and quickly attended the scene," police said. "The man had got inside the property, and a police firearm was discharged."
Police added that officers and paramedics were immediately dispatched to treat the man, but he eventually died at the scene.
Two occupants of the house also received minor injuries during the incident.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), the police watchdog, has launched an investigation as per standard protocol in the event of a fatal police shooting.
