Pilot Killed In U.S. Navy Jet Crash In Nevada

A pilot was killed in a U.S. Navy jet crash in Nevada on Saturday, CNN reported.

The name of the pilot will be withheld until family members are notified.

The U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18C crashed around 12 p.m. at the Naval Air Station Fallon. The Navy said in a statement that the aircraft, which was being used for training purposes, is a "total loss."

Due to the remote location of the crash and an overnight storm, officials were not able to respond to the site for several hours.

No other injuries or damages were reported and the cause of the crash is being investigated.

According to the base's website, Naval Air Station Fallon is a popular location for training because it has "more than 300 clear flying days per year" and includes four bombing ranges, an electronic warfare range, and a 14,000-foot runway.
