Seth MacFarlane said on its 25th anniversary that the animated sitcom 'Family Guy' will stay strong as the show's not ending soon.
'Family Guy' first premiered on Fox with the debut episode, 'Death Has a Shadow.' MacFarlane revealed the secret to the show's longevity on its anniversary.
MacFarlane Reveals the Future of 'Family Guy'
In an interview with The Wrap, MacFarlane said 'Family Guy' is still surviving and thriving with a sizable fan base that appreciates the consistently high-quality work he and his writing team keep cranking out.
Halfway through its 22nd season, 'Family Guy' celebrates its 25th birthday and is in its post-Golden Age golden years. He mentioned no indication that the show would end anytime soon.
He believed the show could continue this way for some time because of its loyal fan base and successful formula. In January 2023, Fox extended 'Family Guy' for two more seasons.
The first episode of MacFarlane's creation was aired on January 31, 1999. He acknowledged that reaching the anniversary milestone feels "strange."
Furthermore, he finds it difficult to choose just one episode out of over 400 as his all-time favorite. He added that he only has a hazy memory of things because there have been so many jokes throughout the years.
MacFarlane's show will return for its 23rd season on Fox on March 6 at 9:30 pm.
MacFarlane's Ted Prequel Show
'Ted,' MacFarlane's new show, achieved a new Peacock streaming record. Acting as a prequel to the two 'Ted' films, the new show takes place in 1993 and centers on a younger Mark Wahlberg character named John Bennett.
The series, which sees Max Burkholder take on the role of John and MacFarlane return to voice the titular bear, premiered on Peacock on January 11, earning mixed reviews from critics.
Collider reported that MacFarlane's prequel series has broken Peacock records since its premiere.
'Ted' is currently the most-watched original title on the platform in its history. However, no actual viewing figures were given.
The Peacock app noticed a spike in downloads over the NFL's Super Wild Card Weekend, which is probably one major factor in the show's outstanding performance.
Although there are differing opinions about the program, Rotten Tomatoes indicates that reviews are better for the show than for 'Ted 2'.
The original film received better reviews from critics than the prequel and the sequel. With a 90% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, 'Ted' breaks previous franchise records.
Even though the new show has not received great reviews from reviewers, crowd reaction matters most. However, the show's popularity will lead to a 'Ted 3' movie.
A lackluster reception from viewers and reviewers in 2015 caused the sequel to do poorly at the box office, taking in less than half of the revenue from the first film. This effectively put an end to the franchise for nearly nine years.
