Miley Cyrus clinched her first-ever Grammy Award for the Best Pop Solo Performance. The winning track, 'Flowers,' serves as the lead single from her eighth studio album, 'Endless Summer Vacation.'

"I just got stuck in the rain in traffic and thought I was going to miss this moment. And I could have missed the award, that's fine, but not Mariah Carey!" Cyrus exclaimed during her acceptance speech at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards held Sunday night at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, United States (US).

The prestigious award was presented by none other than global pop icon Mariah Carey. In a heartwarming display of admiration, Cyrus took a moment to fangirl over Carey, referring to the two MCs standing together as "too iconic."

"This MC is gonna stand by this MC because this is just too iconic," Cyrus said.

In her speech, the 'Party In The USA' hitmaker shared an anecdote about a little boy chasing butterflies, drawing parallels with her journey in the music industry. Cyrus recounted how the boy, after surrendering to the idea of not capturing a butterfly, had one land on the tip of his nose.

Drawing a connection, she proclaimed, "And this song, 'Flowers,' is my butterfly. Thank you."

'Flowers' is a self-love anthem released on January 13, 2023. The track's success is evident, having spent eight weeks at the top of the US Billboard charts and becoming the most-streamed song in a single week on Spotify.

More Grammy Nods for Miley Cyrus

The chart-topping single has garnered Grammy nods across three categories: Best Pop Solo Performance, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. Yet, 'Flowers' isn't the sole Cyrus song in contention for this year's esteemed awards. Her collaborative piece, 'Thousand Miles,' is also nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Additionally, her latest album, 'Endless Summer Vacation,' received nominations for both Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year. Before this much-awaited victory, Cyrus had accumulated eight Grammy nominations but had not secured a win until now.

Cyrus triumphed over stiff competition, including Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift. On the one-year anniversary of 'Flowers,' Cyrus took to Instagram, thanking her fans for contributing to the Flower's success.

"One year ago today 'Flowers' started making people happy & that makes me happy. Love you. Thank you. XO MC," her post read.
