The trial of Adam Montgomery, accused of the brutal murder of his daughter Harmony, began today, shedding light on a harrowing tale of neglect, abuse, and concealment. Prosecutors detailed a timeline of events leading up to Harmony's disappearance in 2019, alleging that Montgomery subjected the young girl to unimaginable suffering before disposing of her remains.

According to Assistant New Hampshire Attorney General Christopher Knowles, Montgomery, while collecting welfare payments on behalf of his daughter, lived a transient life with his now-estranged wife, Kayla, out of a car. Prosecutors claim that Montgomery not only beat Kayla but also subjected Harmony to repeated violence. On the day investigators believe Harmony died, she allegedly suffered abuse at the hands of her father after soiling herself in her sleep.

Prosecutors described in detail what happened on that fatal day: after Harmony's alleged assault, Montgomery and Kayla went about their daily lives, picking up fast food and narcotics. Montgomery allegedly persisted in his aggressive actions in spite of the small girl's sobs and groans, harming his daughter once more before finishing the meal and using drugs.

Harmony's health declined, resulting in a horrific number of things that ended in her death. Montgomery disposed of her corpse in an unkind manner, according to the prosecution, hiding it for months in several places until disposing of it close to Boston, according to Fox News.

Kayla Montgomery Implicates Husband

Despite Montgomery's absence from the trial's opening day, his presence looms large over the proceedings. His estranged wife, Kayla Montgomery, is also facing charges related to Harmony's disappearance. However, in a plea deal, Kayla provided damning testimony against her husband, implicating him in Harmony's death and cover-up.

The case has drawn widespread attention and raised questions about the handling of child custody cases. Harmony's biological mother, Crystal Sorey, expressed frustration with authorities' handling of the situation, especially after learning that her daughter had never been enrolled in school.

Montgomery's defense team attempted to shift blame onto Kayla, painting her as the primary perpetrator in Harmony's death. Despite their efforts, prosecutors maintain that Montgomery played a central role in the young girl's demise and subsequent concealment of her body.

As the trial progresses, prosecutors are expected to call key witnesses, including Harmony's foster mother, biological mother, and relatives who may shed light on Montgomery's history of violence and neglect.

The police is requesting that anyone with information on Harmony's whereabouts come forward as they continue their hunt for justice. The trial may reveal the truth about Harmony's terrible purpose, giving her bereaved family and friends some much-needed justice, CBS News reported.
