Police are on the lookout for three masked suspects they believed rolled up to a house party in King City, California, and opened fire, killing four people and injuring three others.
Three of the victims died at the scene while a fourth, a woman, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, says King City Police Chief James Hunt. Police say that the shooting occurred after the vehicle arrived at the residence in King City, located about 62 miles southeast of Monterey.
Three men reportedly exited the vehicle and opened fire as people enjoyed themselves at the lawn party.
Police responded to a reported shooting at around 6 pm. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
The three other individuals who were wounded by gunshots at the scene were taken to the hospital for treatment, there conditions were not released at press time.
Unfortunately, this is only one of several incidents involving gun violence that occurred in the United States this weekend. A woman in Mississippi was killed and 12 others were injured when shots were fired at a nightclub filled with hundreds of revelers.
In Georgia, police shot a teenager after officers attempted to remove up to 600 guests at Six Flags Over Georgia who they believed were causing a commotion.
Another incident happened in Missouri where two people were shot outside of a high school basketball game. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 68 mass shootings in the country so far this year.
A mass shooting is defined as one in which at least for people are shot, excluding the shooter.
