Republican Presidential candidate and former US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley was planning to suspend her primary bid in a speech on Wednesday morning (Mar. 6) after she was defeated in most states on Super Tuesday.
People familiar with her plans told the Wall Street Journal, on the condition of anonymity, that she would make an appearance in the Charleston area in South Carolina to deliver a brief remark about her plan to suspend her campaign.
The announcement would mark the end of the GOP primary race, making the November election a rematch between US President Joe Biden and former US President Donald Trump.
On Super Tuesday (Mar. 5), Haley's sole wins were in the State of Vermont and the District of Columbia, which, while underwhelming, prevented Trump from being able to say that he shut her out in every state during the event.
Haley initially lost her primary bids in Ohio, New Hampshire, and even in her home state of South Carolina.
