NHL Trade Rumors: Devils Dealing Martin Brodeur To Wild After Red Wings Game, Jaroslav Halak Also Eyed By Minnesota

The New Jersey Devils have reportedly agreed to trade veteran goalie Martin Brodeur to the Minnesota Wild. The deal is expected to be finalized after Tuesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings, the New York Daily News reports.

"With Wednesday's NHL trading deadline looming, a source told the Daily News the Devils and Minnesota had a deal in place, pending Brodeur's approval due to the no-trade clause in his contract," Andy Clayton of The News wrote on Tuesday. "The source said Brodeur wanted to play one more home game for the Devils before being dealt. ...

"The source said Brodeur and Devils president and GM Lou Lamoriello met last week where they discussed teams Brodeur would and would not accept as a landing spot."

Minnesota has been active ahead of Wednesday's trade deadline. The Wild announced on Tuesday they dealt a fourth-round pick to the Edmonton Oilers for goalie Ilya Bryzgalov.

The Post also reported Minnesota was pursuing Buffalo Sabres goalie Jaroslav Halak, who the St. Louis Blues traded on Saturday.

Brodeur, who's played 21 seasons for the Devils, is in the final year of his contract and hasn't ruled out retirement. He told the New Jersey Star-Ledger in January that although he wants to return next season, it would ultimately depend on how his body feels.

New Jersey won the Stanley Cup trophy with Brodeur in 1995, 2000 and 2003.
