'Rust' armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is reportedly struggling in jail as she awaits her sentencing following her involuntary manslaughter conviction.
She was in charge of the weapons on the set of the Alec Baldwin film where he shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a gun that was, unbeknownst to him, loaded with live ammunition.
Gutierrez-Reed was found guilty Wednesday of involuntary manslaughter by a New Mexico jury after deliberating for approximately two and a half hours.
The judge ordered her held until her sentencing. The 26-year-old is looking at a potential 18-month sentence in state prison.
Attorney Jason Bowles told TMZ, "She is having a really difficult time" at the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility.
He says he is planning an appeal. Bowles accused the production of overworking Gutierrez-Reed and said the shooting was not her fault.
During closing arguments, the prosecutor said that Gutierrez-Reed exhibited negligence, carelessness, and thoughtlessness, and claimed that after the shooting, she was primarily concerned about her professional future rather than the victims.
Hutchins' family issued a statement after the trial saying they were "satisfied" with the verdict.
