Reyna Hernandez Tortured: Man From Same Washington City Arrested In Mexico Following Gruesome Cemetery Discovery

The 54-year-old hairdresser was reportedly bound and shot in the head before her body was wrapped in a blanket, according to police

The mutilated body of a Washington state woman who vanished while running errands last month was discovered thousands of miles away in a Mexico cemetery, leading to a 61-year-old man's arrest.

Reyna Hernandez was last seen alive in Renton, Washington, on Feb. 26, according to police.

The 54-year-old hairdresser was reported missing two days later, after she failed to open up her salon.

A break in the case came Friday when detectives learned of an unidentified body found in a Tijuana, Mexico, cemetery, said police. Investigators were able to identify the victim as Hernandez, leading to the arrest of a 61-year-old male suspect, also from Renton.

Family members said the pair were in a romantic relationship and had a history of domestic violence, according to KCPQ-TV.

Investigators told the outlet Hernandez's body exhibited signs of torture. She was reportedly bound and shot in the head before her body was wrapped in a blanket.

"This is the worst possible outcome, and our hearts go out to Reyna's family and friends," Investigations Commander Chandler Swain with the RPD said in a statement. "We are working closely with Mexicali police and our U.S. Federal partners to determine when and where Reyna was killed."
