Missing Texas Teacher, Emily Lambert, Found Slain In New Mexico

A third-grader teacher from Texas who went missing on Saturday was found slain in New Mexico on Tuesday, NBC Dallas reported.

Emily Lambert, 30, was last seen leaving a bar on Saturday around 11:30 p.m. Days later, her body was discovered in Loving along a highway.

Officials have not released further details about her death but said they are currently investigating it as a homicide. Additionally, they mentioned they are looking into a person of interest in the killing.

Lambert was a teacher at O. Henry Elementary. Prior to the gruesome discovery, her loved ones created a Facebook page dedicated to finding the beloved educator. Following the news, the page was updated with a new statement.

"The essence of Emily is with God. Our family thanks each and everyone one of you for your outpouring of love, prayers, and support over the last few days. It is with our deepest sorrows that we report her body has been found. We don't know any specific details at this time. The detectives will contact us sometime tomorrow. We will use this time to collect your thoughts with our families. Thank you," the post read.

The school district that Lambert worked in also released a statement.

"We are deeply saddened by the news of the loss of an RISD family member, Emily Lambert, a third grade teacher at O. Henry Elementary. Our condolences to her family, friends, students and coworkers. Grief counselors will be on hand at O. Henry on Wednesday."
