In a formally penned letter, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan gave Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis a hard ultimatum on Thursday.
The letter warns Willis that if she does not provide all the documents the House committee has requested within a two-week deadline, "the Committee will consider taking further action, such as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceeding."
The Committee previously issued a subpoena on February 2, 2024, after several failed attempts for her cooperation in submitting the requested documents.
The documents in question are of two specific categories-- the first of which are documents and communications referring or relating to the FCDAO's receipt and use of federal funds, and the second of which are documents and communications referring or relating to any allegations of the misuse of federal funds by the FCDAO.
This time, the Ohio Republican informed Willis she has until March 28, 2024, at noon, to comply with the panel's subpoena.
Jordan also accuses the district attorney of defamation of a former employee who spoke out about her misuse of federal grant funds.
"We will not dignify your attacks on this brave whistleblower, or your continued attempts to distract from your conduct through misdirection and personal insults," Jordan wrote.
"The allegations in the public realm about your misuse of federal grant funding are concerning, and the Committee has an obligation to examine them."
Willis claims the panel's subpoena is "overboard and unduly burdensome," while Jordan responded with "on the contrary," his committee had been exercising its authority "with restraint."
