A 19-year-old woman was shot in the hip following an argument with a man on a bus in Queens on Thursday evening, according to authorities.
Around around 6:20 p.m., the victim and another passenger on a Q110 bus in Hollis engaged in a verbal altercation, as reported by the authorities.
Woman Shot During Verbal Dispute in Queens Bus
Following a violent altercation that took place on board a Q110 bus, a woman was shot in Queens. After the bus arrived at the stop at the intersection of Francis Lewis Boulevard and Jamaica Avenue, the fight reportedly became more heated, ending in a gunshot that struck the victim in the hip, as said by authorities from the law enforcement agency.
During a short period of time following the altercation, emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the site and promptly transferred the injured woman to Jamaica Hospital, WABC reported. Fortunately, it was reported that she was in stable condition, which provided a glimmer of solace in the middle of the unnerving turn of circumstances.
After receiving reports of the gunshot, policemen from the 105th Precinct came to the intersection of Francis Lewis Boulevard and Jamaica Avenue in Hollis as soon as they could. This information was provided by authorities within the police department. Law enforcement authorities moved quickly to address the victim's condition.
Suspects Flee
A witness described how the victim and the person who is suspected of carrying out the shooting got into a heated disagreement on the bus shortly before the victim was to get off at the stop that had been identified before. Unfortunately, their disagreement escalated to the point where it culminated in shooting that could be heard throughout the whole area.
As he made his way along Francis Lewis Boulevard in the direction of the southbound direction, the suspect, who was described as a guy in his 20s, made a fast getaway from the scene, eluding capture as he made his way. There have been no arrests made as of yet and the investigation into the occurrence is still in progress.
The authorities have made an appeal for help to the general public, requesting anybody who may have information that is pertinent to the investigation to come forward and assist in the pursuit of justice.
