A massive steel monolith standing approximately 10 feet tall appeared on a hilltop in Wales on Tuesday, according to local reports. According to WalesOnline, the locals came across the object sitting on a hill in Hay-on-Wye.
A resident reportedly told the media that he came across the mysterious object while running in the morning.
"I thought it looked a bit bizarre and might be a scientific media research thing collecting rainwater," he told WalesOnline. "But then I realized it was way too tall and strange for that."
The individual said he believes the object is "triangular, definitely stainless steel."
"It was hollow and I imagine pretty light," he said. "Light enough for two people to carry it up and plant it in the ground."
Other residents have said the object has only been in there a short period of time.
"I was a bit taken aback," he told the news agency. "...[it] looked perfectly leveled and steady, despite the weather being windy."
Similar objects have appeared in the United Kingdom before as well as other locations in the United States.
In 2020, objects that appeared very similar to the one in question appeared only months apart in Colorado, California and Utah.
Many people thought the objects were part of some sort of art exhibit while others thought it looked eerily in appearance to something out of this world.
Something from the classic science fiction film "Space Odessey: 2001," to be exact.
Yet another witness told the media he believed the monolith to be "like some sort of a UFO."
In a video posted to Facebook, a witness says he'd "never seen this before."
"I was a bit taken aback," he told the news agency. "...[it] looked perfectly leveled and steady, despite the weather being windy."
