Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) who changed districts in an effort to stay in Congress, is pleading for donations to fund her campaign as she tries to come out on top of a crowded Republican primary for Colorado's 4th district.
She asked for a "MAGA Monday Money Bomb" in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
She said she was "in the fight of my political career" and claimed the "establishment has done all they can to take me out."
Boebert asked for donations as low as $5 to help fund her campaign.
She is running to replace Rep. Ken Buck who earlier announced he was retiring. But more recently, he abruptly announced he would not finish his term, setting up a special election to serve out the remainder of his term that ends Dec. 31.
The special election will fall on the same day as the primary for the November election.
Bobert announced last week that she would not run in the special election so she could concentrate on campaigning for the full term.
She blasted Buck's resignation and the special election as a "swampy backroom deal."
"Forcing an unnecessary Special Election on the same day as the Primary Election will confuse voters, result in a lame duck Congressman on Day One, and leave the 4th District with no representation for more than three months. The 4th District deserves better."
If Boebert had taken part in the special election and won, she would have been forced to step down from her current seat. That would have left it vacant and reduced the GOP's razor-thin majority.
