U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson is accused of physically assaulting his soon-to-be ex-wife on Saturday night, POLITICO reported.
According to a complaint obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, Lolita Grayson was granted a temporary restraining order from her husband, who she is the middle of divorcing.
The complaint states that the congressman "deliberately and with force pushed [Lolita Grayson] very hard against the front door, causing [her] to fall to the ground as a result."
She also claims in the legal document that her husband "has battered [her] and the parties' minor children" in previous incidents, though she never reported them to police.
Though his wife was given a restraining order, Rep. Grayson was not arrested and currently faces no charges. Additionally, his office issued a statement claiming the incident occurred the other way around.
"Sadly, it was Ms. Grayson who physically attacked the Congressman as he attempted to visit with his children. He did not respond to Ms. Grayson's violent assault," the statement said.
Grayson and his wife are ending their marriage after 24 years together. They have two children.
Grayson, a Democrat, was elected to the House in 2012 and represents Florida's 9th District. He was first elected to represent the state's 8th District in 2009 but was defeated in 2011 by Republican Daniel Webster.
