A petition to the White House is calling for President Barack Obama to get NFL quarterback Tim Tebow a job.
In the aftermath of Tebow's release from the New York Jets last Monday, and with the quarterback still unemployed, fans have taken to the White House's "We the People" website to petition the President to find Tebow a job with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to the Inquisitr.
The petition, filed on the site under "Job Creation" on April 30, asks Obama to call and convince Jaguars general manager David Caldwell to sign the free agent quarterback.
The petition reads: "Jacksonville Jaguars fans want the team to sign recently released QB Tim Tebow. However, rookie general manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars David Caldwell is blocking this from happening. If the Jaguars sign & START Tebow, home games will be sold out, sales will spoke, the team will win and the fans will be happy."
A response from the White House requires a petition to receive 100,000 online signatures. As of Monday morning, the petition has 150 signatures.
Petition or no petition, it appears improbable that Jacksonville will ever sign Tebow.
Caldwell expressed in his introductory press conference in January that Tebow is unlikely to ever play in a Jaguars uniform, saying, "I can't imagine a scenario where he is a Jacksonville Jaguar ... even if he is released."
"The rookie general manager", as the petition labels Caldwell, is adamant not to bring Tebow to Jacksonville.
The Florida Times Union reported in April that part of Caldwell's interview process with Jaguars owner Shad Khan included Caldwell telling the owner up front that he had no interest in ever signing Tebow. Given that Caldwell was hired, Khan must have agreed.
Tebow was recently linked to the Miami Dolphins, although the rumor was quickly dispelled by a Dolphins source as being "totally untrue."
With Tebow reportedly unfit to even start in the Canadian Football League, it's any one's guess where the former Heisman-winning quarterback will play next.
