A 24-year-old South California woman who was taken into custody last week for allegedly participating in the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol allegedly created lengthy posts on social about being at the riot, according to the FBI.
Isabella M. DeLuca, a Long Island native and former congressional intern to Paul Gosar, was arrested in Irvine Friday on charges including theft of government property, entering or remaining in a restricted area, and disorderly or disruptive conduct.
DeLuca, who describes herself as a conservative American, is a social media influencer who recorded her January 2021 trip to Washington, DC.
In her videos, she is reportedly seen breaking a window and entering the Capitol, where she helped lift a table out of the building.
According to federal documents, authorities allege that other rioters, along with DeLuca, broke the table into pieces and used them to attack law enforcement officers, reported ABC 7.
The FBI interviewed DeLuca via phone weeks after the attack, however, she denied the allegations, emphasizing she had no connection to the accusations against her.
A federal affidavit revealed an informant disclosed to the FBI that she had deleted social media posts that placed her at the Capitol.
Her social media accounts were subpoenaed along with other records, messages, and posts with detailed accounts from her, describing her experience and even mentioning getting maced.
Surveillance images retrieved by authorities proved that she had stormed the building with the other rioters on Jan. 6.
DeLuca has not remained quiet despite her legal troubles.
"Thank you everyone for all the kind messages and the support," she tweeted with a heart emoji. "I appreciate it all."
On Monday night, she has also shared a legal defense fund that raised close to $1,800, said The New York Post.
