Photo Manipulation Saga: Agency Withdraws Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's Son's Christening Snap Over 'Digital Enhancement' Concern

Despite the photographer's denial, there are claims that the photo may have been digitally enhanced.

The official christening photograph of Prince Archie has become embroiled in the ongoing controversy surrounding photo manipulation, as it includes a beaming Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Getty, the global picture agency, stated that the portrait had undergone digital enhancements. The reason for this remains unclear, as there are no apparent discrepancies.

Photographer Reacts After Getty Pulls Out Image of Prince Archie's Christening

A photograph captured by fashion photographer Chris Allerton was made public following Archie's christening on July 6, 2019.

The image depicts the two-month-old alongside Meghan, Prince Harry, King Charles, Camilla, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle's mother Doria Ragland, and Princess Diana's sisters.

Last night, Allerton vehemently denied any involvement in altering the image. He dismissed the allegation and said, "Load of cobblers. Bye."

Following the recent controversy surrounding the Mother's Day portrait of the Princess of Wales, she has acknowledged thatshe sometimes engages in editing experimentation.

Several international news agencies have recently issued a notice to discontinue the use of a certain term.

Queen Elizabeth's Photo With Grand Kids Deemed Enhanced

Moreover, a photograph of Queen Elizabeth II alongside her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was captured by Kate Middleton in August 2022 at Balmoral.

Getty has also applied the same branding to this portrait. Both photos include a "editor's note" in their Getty captions indicating that the image has been digitally enhanced.

Kate Middleton released a portrait last year to commemorate what would have been Elizabeth II's 97th birthday. The photo featured her two grandchildren, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor and James, Earl of Wessex, along with eight great-grandchildren.

Upon careful examination, it is evident that the sofa has been joined together. A noticeable vertical line disrupts the seamless pattern of Elizabeth II's tartan skirt, and there are dark patches behind Prince George and Prince Louis. Mia's hair and Charlotte's dress both exhibit a striking similarity that catches the eye, as per Page Six.

A spokesperson for Getty Images stated that the company is currently conducting a review of handout images. As part of their editorial policy, they are adding an editor's note to images that may have been digitally enhanced, based on suggestions from the source.

After this story was published to MailOnline, Allerton emphasized that his photograph has not been altered and expressed gratitude to the Mail for informing him about Getty's addition of an editor's note to his image.

Allerton stated that he reached out to the Getty Editorial Team to seek clarification.

According to Mail, the photographer remembered how he had carefully set up his camera and lighting before the royals arrived, ensuring that the portrait only required minimal adjustments to its tone and exposure. With everything in place, his focus was solely on capturing a relaxed and pleasing moment for them, quickly and efficiently.
