Authorities have caught a Georgia couple after they were found unconscious on a Florida beach while their two young children were left unsupervised.
Alyssia Langley, 27, and Timothy Stephens, 27, have been taken into custody and have been charged with allegations of child neglect. Stephens is also facing accusations of attempting to evade police and possessing alcoholic beverages on the beach, as reported by online arrest records, according to Fox 35News.
Drunk Georgia Couple Arrested in Florida Beach
After recovering consciousness, the startled couple appeared confused when they were questioned about the condition of their two young children, who were 5 and 7 years old.
After some time had passed, it was found that the children had been abandoned, but happily, they ended up safe and sound, having a good time in the pool of a nearby hotel.
In the footage captured by Fox 35, a deputy can be heard urgently attempting to wake the couple with repeated calls of "Hey. The sheriff's office! Wake up!"
Despite getting somewhat disoriented, the couple seemed unsure, with Timothy Stephens pointing vaguely towards the ocean when questioned about the location of the children.
After investigating the arrest record, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said his shock by saying, "It just boggles my mind that you would drive here and get obliterated and allow a five and a seven-year-old to wander off." Chitwood was talking about the reason that the suspect would allow the child to wander off, according to New York Post.

Couple Face Multiple Charges
According to Fox News, Alyssa Langley and Timothy Stephens are now facing accusations of felony neglect. Stephens is also facing allegations for attempting to run from law officials and for carrying alcoholic drinks on the beach. Both of these charges were in addition to the felony abuse complaint.
Surrounding those who observe were aware of the seriousness of the situation, and one of them made the following observation: "If you don't want to be responsible for your children and that's what you want to do, then find someone to watch them and come on vacation without them."
When Stephens tried to flee police officers, he slipped and fell, resulting in apparent face injuries. This was a terrifying turn in the proceedings that occurred throughout the incident. As soon as Stephens' face came into contact with the concrete, deputies immediately sent for medical aid. Stephens was declared unconscious.
After further investigation, Langley and Stephens were taken into custody and charged with the felony of child neglect, which is a third-degree offense.
As Sheriff Chitwood thought of the incident, he made the following observation: "When we wonder what we see and why kids are the way they are, you know, you have to take a step back and look at who is in charge."
He concluded by saying, "And clearly, these two clowns shouldn't be in charge of they can't be in charge of themselves, let alone a 5-year-old or a 7-year-old."
