A man was arrested by Kern County, California, police on Friday after they saw him leaving the scene of a deadly train collision with a severed leg.
Bakersfield's FOX 58 said that 27-year-old Resendo Tellez has been taken into custody and suspected of stealing evidence from a crime scene.Around eight in the morning on Friday, the BNSF Railroad police and the Kern County Sheriff's Office came to reports of a pedestrian struck by a train at a Wasco station.
Man Caught on Video Taking Severed Leg in Accident Scene
After reportedly taking a human body part from the scene of a train accident in Wasco, California, which resulted in the death of a man who has not been identified, Tellez, 27, was taken into custody and charged with further crimes.
BNSF Railroad police and the Kern County Sheriff's Office are also participating in the investigation into the incident, which has raised doubts about Tellez's mental health and his reasons for what he did.
The number of many warrants that are ongoing for Tellez adds an additional degree of legal complexity to the case. This suggests that Tellez has a history of engaging in criminal activities or being involved with police enforcement.

Burlington Northern Sanat Confirms Train Accident
Several sheriff's vehicles were seen rushing to the Amtrack railroad tracks in the footage capturing the alleged cannibalization incident. There was clear evidence of recent activity in the area, likely related to the incident involving the train that occurred around 8am.
Tellez walked nonchalantly down the street, holding the leg in one hand. He proceeded to lean down and smell the leg, quickly wiped his mouth, and twirled it around as officers moved in on the disturbing incident.
Authorities have confirmed that Tellez was apprehended without any complications, and it was discovered that he had multiple outstanding warrants.
Burlington Northern Santa, a railroad company, has confirmed to ABC23 that one of their trains was involved in a tragic collision resulting in loss of life.
According to authorities, an individual was struck while standing in front of an Amtrak platform. However, the investigation into the incident is still underway.
Tellez is currently in custody and is expected to appear in court on March 26.
