Two 10-year-old boys were arrested in Florida on gun charges this week after one of them attempted to sell his deceased father's firearm to the other, according to authorities.Jaiden Diego Escobedo agreed to sell the gun to Carlos Santos Madrid for $300.

Administrators at Country Oaks Elementary School in LaBelle found ammunition in one of the boys' backpacks after which a series of incidents revealed why.

According to authorities, a 10-year-old student agreed to sell a gun that belonged to his father, a deceased sheriff's deputy, for $300.

The gun was later found under a shed in one of the Escobedo" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">boys' backyard, along with a 74-gram bag of marijuana, according to law enforcement.

The seller of the weapon is charged with selling a firearm to a minor, unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of a firearm on school property, and grand theft of a firearm.

The mother of the boy who sold the gun is also a Hendry County Sheriff's deputy.

She has been placed on administrative leave pending an administrative inquiry, according to authorities. Both students were placed in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
