‘I Quit’: Lizzo Makes Shocking Announcement Amid Legal Troubles

Lizzo did not elaborate what she was referring to in her latest Instagram statement.

US pop star Melissa Viviane Jefferson—more known by her screen name Lizzo—announced that she would "quit" the music industry, expressing her disgust at the ridicule she received for her looks and her character.

"I'm getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet," Jefferson said on Instagram. "All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I'm starting to feel like the world doesn't want me in it."

Lizzo also said that she was "constantly up against lies being told" about her for "clout" and "views," as well as for being "the butt of the joke every single time" for her looks, specifically her voluptuous size.

"My character being picked apart by people who don't know me and disrespecting my name," she added. "I didn't sign up for this s***. I quit."

Lawyer: Lizzo's Biden Fundraiser Appearance 'Shameful'

Lizzo - known for one of her hits titled "About Damn Time" - does not make it clear what she was referring to or what sparked the statement, but it came a day after Ron Zambrano, a lawyer representing three former dancers, filed a lawsuit against her last August, said that it was "shameful" that she headlined the Radio City Music Hall fundraiser for US President Joe Biden "amid such egregious allegations."

"Without getting into the politics, I can't imagine why anyone would want Lizzo representing them in any way given her reprehensible behavior," he told NewsNation. "It's just a terrible look."

Last August, Jefferson settled the payment dispute filed against her by 14 of her backup dancers. However, she and her production company were sued by ex-dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, who accused her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment, Sky News reported.

At the time, Lizzo described the allegations as "gut-wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing," adding that the claims were "as unbelievable as they sound."
