SUV Driver Rams Gate of FBI Atlanta HQ, Then Tries to Get Inside

The unidentified man was arrested and taken to a local hospital for evaluation

A man was arrested after ramming an SUV into a security barrier and trying to enter the FBI's Atlanta field office Monday, according to reports.

The crash occurred shortly after noon when the SUV followed an authorized vehicle through the front gate, Fox News reported, citing the FBI.

A pop-up barricade was activated, stopping the vehicle and crumpling its hood, according to overhead video of the scene.

The driver got out and and headed for the FBI building but was nabbed by agents in the car and two others who were leaving for lunch, Fox News said.

DeKalb County police responded and arrested the man, who was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for a mental evaluation and treatment of any injuries.

His identity and motive were unknown.

A bomb squad checked the vehicle, CNN said, and it was towed away shortly before 4 p.m., according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
