Navy Vet Who Drove Car Into FBI Office Barrier Linked to QAnon: Report

Elvin Lee Bolling faces charges of destruction of government property

A decorated Navy veteran arrested early this week after allegedly ramming his car into the FBI's Atlanta headquarters is apparently a QAnon supporter, Wired reported Wednesday.

Ervin Lee Bolling, who served in the Navy 20 years as a submarine warfare specialist, has been lilnked to social media accounts that boosted QAnon conspiracy beliefs and political positions, according to research by the nonpartisan nonprofit Advance Democracy, which was was shared with Wired.

Bolling's apparent sentiments — shared on X and Facebook, among other platform sites linked to him — expressed "love" for Donald Trump, opposition to vaccines, and the desire to "join" a militia to battle a federal stimulus bill, Wired reported.

He also appeared to express support for pro-Trump attorney Sidney Powell's call to "release" the mythical "Kraken" monster in response to baseless claims of a rigged presidential election. Powell has since pleaded guilty to election interference charges.

The 48-year-old vet from Easley, South Carolina, was arrested after law enforcement officials said he drove his SUV through a final gate protecting the FBI office in suburban Chamblee. He then left the car and tried to follow an FBI staffer into the secure parking lot, according to the affidavit supporting his arrest cited by Wired.

When agents told Bolling to sit on a curb, he tried again to enter the office, and then resisted arrest, the affidavit stated.

He faces one federal count of destruction of government property, and one count of interference with government property, according to local officials and court records, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

He faces up to ten years in prison if convicted of the counts.

Officials did not reveal any information about what Bolling intended to do had he gained access to the building — or if he was armed.
