California burglars pulled off a daring and elaborate heist from a money storage facility on Sunday, according to a report, making off with roughly $30 miillion in cash without setting off a single alarm and leaving investigators stunned.
On Easter Sunday, the unnamed facility, later identified as GardaWorld facility in Sylmar by ABC7, was robbed in the middle of the night. L.A. Police Department Commander Elaine Morales said on Wednesday that the crooks were able to breach the buidling and gain access to where the money was stored.
Images from ABC7's helicopter show a breach in the side of the building.
Law enforcement sources are stumped as to how the thieves were able to pull off the heist without setting off any alarms, according to the L.A. Times. The safe that was empited shows no sign of break in, and only a very select few people even knew large sums of money were in there prior to the heist, the Times reported.
The FBI confirmed to the Times that the bureau is investigating the heist alongside LAPD officers.
The Company that owns the building did not discover the crime until Monday morning.
