Prominent Las Vegas Attorney, Wife Gunned Down in Apparent Murder-Suicide at Law Office

During a deposition, attorney Joe Houston shot and killed fellow attorney Dennis Prince and his wife before turning the gun on himself

A prominent Las Vegas attorney and his wife were shot to death Monday by the woman's former father-in-law during a deposition for a child custody case at a Nevada law office.

Attorney Dennis Prince was representing his wife, Ashley Prince, in a child custody dispute involving the two children she shared with her ex-husband, Dylan Houston, at the Prince Law Group's office, Monday morning, KTNV-TV reported, citing several unnamed law enforcement sources familiar with the case.

Dylan's father, attorney Joe Houston, was representing his son.

In the middle of a deposition, the elder Houston shot and killed the Princes before turning the gun on himself.

"The suspect was not killed by police. We believe he took his own life," Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill said, according to KLAS-TV.

Dennis and Ashley recently welcomed their only child together, KVVU-TV reported.

Dennis' former law partner, Robert Eglet, described the late attorney as a father of four whose death was "not just a loss to his family, but also to the community," according to KLAS.

The investigation remains ongoing.
