Woman Says God Told Her to Open Fire On Florida Interstate Drivers Because of Solar Eclipse

Nichelle Celestine faces attempted murder charges after 2 drivers were injured

Police in Florida say they have arrested a woman who opened fire on drivers on I-10 reportedly because God told her to because of the solar eclipse.

The Florida Highway Patrol officers say Taylon Nichelle Celestine, 22, of Georgia had checked out of a hotel and told the staff she was going on a shooting spree.

Officers say she drove her purple Dodge Challenger onto Interstate 10 at the 112-mile marker and traveled westbound. Within five miles of driving, police say she fired multiple shots into another vehicle and hit it multiple times.

The driver was struck by glass fragments from the window and grazed on the arm by a bullet. Officers say he was able to steer his vehicle onto the shoulder of the road.

She allegedly shot at another vehicle near the 107-mile marker, hitting the driver in the neck. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. Their condition was unknown.

Responding troopers say they located Celestine near the 96-mile marker and arrested her. Troopers say they found an AR-15 and a 9mm handgun in her car.

Celestine was booked into the Holmes County Jail on attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and improper discharge of a firearm charges.

A total solar eclipse passed over the United States on Monday afternoon, although it was only a partial eclipse for Florida.
