Family and social media users responding Thursday to the announcement of the death of O.J. Simpson slammed the one-time football hero for the deaths of the two people Simpson was accused — and acquitted — of murdering.

The father of murder victiim Ron Goldman's father told NBC News reporter Daniel Arkin that Simpson's death was "no great loss."

He added: "The only thing I have to say is it's just further reminder of Ron being gone all these years. It's no great loss to the world. It's a further reminder of Ron's being gone."

Simpson was acquitted aftar a dramatic trial for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Goldman in a brutally vicious attack outside Brown Simpson's Brentwood, California, home in 1994. But a civil jury later found Simpson liable for Goldman's wrongful death and awarded his parents $33.5 million in damages.

Simpson was later convicted of felony kidnapping and armed robbery in a separate case and sentenced to 33 years in prison.

He passed away Wednesday after a long battle with cancer, his family announced on X. He was 76.

Nicole Brown Simpson's sister Tanya Brown declined to comment on his death Thursday.

Many on social media honored Goldman and Brown Simpson — not the former football legend and early beguiling movie star. Los Angeles TV reporter Frank Buckley of KTLA, who covered the murder trial, couldn't help thinking of their families.

Others imagined next steps for O.J.
