Patrick Clancy, the father of three young children who were allegedly killed by their mother ran the Boston Marathon in their honor.
He gave an emotional tribute to them at the finishing line on Monday.
"I love my kids, they're wonderful people. They had a lot of friends, everybody loved them," Patrick Clancy told WCVB-TV. "They had short lives - but they had really good lives."
It was Clancy's first marathon. He wore one of his daughter's bows, a bracelet from one son, and an armband from the other son.
Lindsay Clancy, allegedly strangled Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan with exercise bands in their basement in January 2023 as she apparently suffered from postpartum depression.
She then tried to kill herself by slashing her wrists and jumping out of a window. She survived but is now paralyzed.
Patrick Clancy ran the race to raise money for Boston Children's Hospital.
"In the short time they were here, my kids brought me so much joy and couldn't have made their dad prouder," Patrick said on his fundraising page. "It goes without saying that losing them has been devasting and it's a heartbreak that I'll live with forever, but I've committed myself to honoring their memory by trying to bring positive change."
He added more detail about each of his children.
"Cora always loved interacting and playing little ones, especially after her little brothers were born. She loved babies partly because she thought they were cute, but she also just loved taking care of them."
"Dawson was everyone's pal and one of the friendliest toddlers you'd ever meet. He loved fire trucks, Paw Patrol, and his family. I always marveled at his willingness to share and ability to bring smiles to people's faces."
"Callan was such a happy baby that he earned the nickname, 'Happy Callan.' You could tell he loved his brother and sister and seemed to find them hilarious."
Lindsay Clancy remains in custody at a mental hospital without bail in the case. Her lawyers plan to use an insanity defense, the Boston Globe reported.
