Organized gangs have been targeting high-end stores in California, getting away with up to $100,000 in merchandise at a time in the brazen heists.
Now the Los Angeles Police Department Commercial Crimes Division Organized Retail Crimes Task Force is investigating a series of "flash robberies" at retail stores involving 10-20 suspects.
Cops say they began targeting local retail stores last month within a few miles of each other.
The robbery crew is made up of 10 to 20 suspects who enter the stores in the evening hours wearing hooded sweatshirts and face coverings.
They quickly go in, remove clothing and other merchandise, and flee without paying.
They then race away on bicycles.
"The suspects have used force and displayed a lack of regard for the safety of witnesses and victims," the LAPD warns.
The suspects are described as Hispanics, 5'-6' tall, 120 to 250 pounds, and appear to be between the ages of 15-25.
Police say it is likely that the suspects attend the Los Angeles Unified School District near the targeted stores.
Last month, the LAPD said it was investigating a string of burglaries targeting Los Angeles area pharmacies that appear to be tied to one crew.
