The Houston Rockets ended Miami's eight-game winning streak on Tuesday with a 106-103 win. Heat star LeBron James, who admitted after the loss he felt "extremely tired," was unable to follow up his franchise-best 61 point performance from the night before and finished with 22 points against Houston.
Miami came within three points of tying the score but was unable to finish the comeback.
"We were able to push back in the fourth quarter and tie the game up," Heat star Dwyane Wade said, via ESPN. "But we had to exhaust so much energy trying to come back."
The Heat (43-15) will look to bounce back on Thursday when they travel to the AT&T Center for their second-of-three road trip games. Miami's contest against San Antonio is a rematch of last season's NBA finals and, perhaps, a preview of this year's finals.
San Antonio, who's struggled with injuries throughout the season, appears back on track. The Spurs (44-16) won 11 of their last 14 games, including four straight. The team is coming off a 122-101 win on Tuesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, whose defense allowed six Spurs to score in the double-digits.
"That's a lot of fun," said Spurs guard Manu Ginobili, who had 11 points. "That means everybody got involved and everybody enjoyed the game. It's great to be a part of that."
Miami won the first meeting of the season against San Antonio on Jan. 26, 113-101.
