Tesla CEO Elon Musk reportedly admits that some workers were not given what they should have when they were laid off from the car maker.
"I has come to my attention that some severance packages are incorrectly low," Musk wrote in an internal email viewed by CNBC. "My apologies for this mistake. It is being corrected immediately."
It was unclear how many employees received the wrong severance or by how much.
Tesla is cutting more than 10% of its global workforce. The company is dealing with stalled sales and an intensifying price war for electric vehicles (EVs).
Tesla offered some laid-off workers two months of severance pay and health insurance for workers who were covered by the company's plans, Business Insider reported.
Workers impacted by the layoffs were notified to their personal email accounts, but some did not see or receive the message before they went to work Monday, Quartz reported.
Musk is facing lawsuits filed by former Twitter executives for what they claim is unpaid severance from when he dumped them after taking control of the social media company.
In January, A Delaware judge ruled that Musk is not eligible for a compensation package granted by Tesla's board of directors, which could be valued at over $55 billion.
