Former British soccer star David Beckham is suing actor Mark Wahlberg over a business deal he claims cost him more than $10.5 million in stock value, according to a report.
Beckham, 48, said he agreed to become a "global ambassador" for the F45 Training fitness club chain after moving to Los Angeles and becoming friends with Wahlberg, 52, the Sun said, citing court papers.
Wahlberg is F45's chief brand officer and struck a deal with corporate parent Club Sports Group to open two branches in his hometown of Boston this year, the company announced in February.
Beckham alleges he lost more than 8.5 million in British pounds when the stock shares he was promised weren't delivered until after their price plunged, according to the Sun.
The lawsuit, filed by Beckham's DB Ventures Ltd., reportedly also targets Wahlberg's Mark Wahlberg Investment Group and F45 founders Ada Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch.
The defendants are seeking to have the fraud suit dismissed, telling the judge that the 209-page complaint "tries to make up with length what it lacks in merit," the Sun said.
