Five children were taken to a Chicago hospital after ingesting marijuana in the form of gummy edibles at an elementary school on Monday.
"We were made aware that some members of our school community had ingested an unknown substance in the form of gummy edibles," read a letter to parents from the principal of George Leland Elementary School, according to Fox32.
The letter continued, "We encourage you to take this opportunity to have a conversation with your child about the health risks associated with consuming edibles and to remind them not to accept food if they do not know where it came from."
The letter also stated that, out of an abundance of caution, notifications were made to ensure the children received medical attention and highlighted that everyone was safe.
All the children sent to the hospital are in good condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
