Ukraine has wasted little time putting secretly-acquired American weapons to use.
On Tuesday morning, Ukraine reportedly launched a wave of U.S. made, long-range missiles across Crimea. The newly acquired weapons pounded air bases and air defense installations, the Kyiv Post reported.
Russia claims it shot down six of the U.S.-produced Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) involved in the attack, Reuters reported. Ukraine's military did not confirm if it had launched any attacks or used the new weaponry.
It was unknown if any missiles hit their targets.
The United States secretly shipped the long-range missiles to Ukraine recently. The missiles were part of a $300 million aid package U.S. President Joe Biden approved on March 12. On top of that, Biden also signed a $95 billion foriegn aid package last week, which will send $61 billion to Ukraine.
"Ten Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, six ATACMS tactical missiles manufactured by the United States and two guided 'Hammer' aircraft bombs manufactured by France were shot down by air defenses," the Russian Defense Ministry said on Telegram.
