No. 2 Wichita State is 31-0 after a 68-45 victory on Saturday against Missouri State. Despite the accomplishment of going unbeaten in the regular season, Shockers coach Gregg Marshall plans to remind his players the last team to go unbeaten -- Saint Joseph's in 2004, according to the Associated Press -- lost their first game of their conference tournament.
"They know they have to play well, and I probably will mention it," Marshall told the Associated Press. "I'm very upfront with them. Yeah, I'll let them know that."
While Marshall admits he believes his team should be ranked No. 1, he believes the only thing that really matters is how well they play when NCAA tournament comes around.
"Regardless, I really don't think it matters," Marshall said. "It's who's playing the best in those pivotal games in late March and April."
Senior forward Cleanthony Early leads Wichita State in both scoring and rebounding with 15.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
The Aces (14-18) head into Friday's contest with a three-game winning streak under their belts.
