A brawl between parents during a children's basketball tournament in South Carolina has sparked concerns about the lack of security personnel at the gym.
The tournament was held at the North Charleston Athletic Center for students between fifth and tenth grade who travel to play opposing teams.
Footage shows several parents punching one another during a basketball game, with referees trying to break up the fight by intervening and blowing whistles.
One parent, Tiffany Lyman, whose 13-year-old played in the tournament, said it was shocking. She said basketball games can get pretty heated but said she had never seen anything like that in person.
There were no security officers or personnel at the tournament to break up the fight, spectators told WCSC-TV.
The tournament director for Teammate Basketball did not comment on Sunday's incident and who was responsible for security. Teammate Basketball organized the tournament.
"I'm a little bit hesitant to continue," Lyman said. "We do have another tournament in a few weeks with the same organizer and the same company; I'd like to know that they're going to have security there and maybe a little bit more oversight."
The North Charleston Police Department reported that the crowd had left when police arrived and no one was arrested.
The City of North Charleston said whoever rents out the athletic center is responsible for providing security.
