The pop star Britney Spears and her estranged husband Sam Asghari have finally settled their divorce less than a week after resolving a long-standing financial dispute with her father.
According to the court documents, a judge with the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County signed off on the divorce on Thursday.
The 30-year-old Asghari and the 42-year-old 'Gimme More' singer will be officially single on December 2, 2024, as California law requires at least a six-month waiting period.
In court documents, Asghari and Spears stated that their irreconcilable differences, which led to the irremediable breakdown of the marriage, making it impossible for the parties to live together as husband and wife, were the reason for their separation on July 30, 2023.
Asghari filed for divorce on August 16, 2023. The judge signed off shortly after Asghari and Spears settled for their divorce.
On April 25, the two reached a settlement in Los Angeles Superior Court for an undisclosed amount.
The documents obtained by PEOPLE reported that the former couple upheld the terms of their prenuptial agreement. TMZ initially reported the news.
A source told PEOPLE that the divorce was amicable, and the prenup was not challenged. The source added that Spears has continued to flex her freedom and is now moving on.
Furthermore, the source clarified that Spears is not on Asghari's lease and is not paying his rent despite previous reports. The source claimed that the reports said Spears is in financial distress, which is false, and she is not on any lease for him.
In the months following their split, Asghari said he saw his time with Spears as "a blessing."
In March, the actor said that sharing life with someone for a long time was a blessing. However, people grow apart and move on.
