An investigation is underway after one person was killed and another was injured in an explosion at a home in New Jersey Thursday evening.
The explosion occurred at a residence on Continental Court in South River at around 7 p.m. Thursday, according to the South River Police Department.
Officers arrived at the scene and found two male victims. Kevin Gilbert, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other victim was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment, police said.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and South River Police Chief Mark Tinitigan said an investigation into the cause of the explosion is "active and continuing."
Police are asking anyone with information about the explosion to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
